Solar return
Once a year, the Sun returns to the exact degree it held at your birth. The chart cast for that moment — the solar return — is read as a forecast of the year ahead, and it is cast for wherever you are when it happens.
That location-dependence is why some people travel for their birthdays: standing in a well-chosen place at the moment of the return shifts the year's chart. It's one of the oldest practical uses of locational astrology.
